Allanak Soldier Boy

At a cottage door one chilly night,
As the dust lay on the ground,
Stood a youthful Allanak soldier boy,
To the deserts he was bound.
His mother stood beside him saying,
You'll win my boy don't fear,
She tied his bandolier.

Good bye, Highlord bless you mother dear,
I hope your heart won't pain,
But pray to the Highlord that you should see,
Your soldier boy again.
And when I'm out in the battle line,
It will be a source of joy,
For you to know that you're remembering still,
Your Allanak Soldier boy.

And when the fighting it was o'er,
And the flag of the Cross was raised,
The leaders ordered battle to cease,
All Allanak stood amazed.
His comrades came to the cottage door,
With a word from her pride and joy,
With an aching heart she cried Highlord be good,
To her Allanak soldier boy.

Good-bye, Highlord bless you mother dear,
I'm dying a death so grand,
From wounds received in action,
Fighting for my native land.
I hope we'll meet in the desert afar,
In a land beyond the sand,
Where you'll always be in company with,
Your Allanak soldier boy.
